Transformers Dinobots

The Dinobots Transformers strike team exemplifies raw power like no other Autobot, and boast more melee might than any dreaded enemy. These heavily armed titans based on dinosaurs and prehistoric beasts boast enough firepower and melee might to rival even the mighty Devastator. Their origins shift across the myriad Transformers universes, but almost always involve the mad genius invention of Wheeljack going awry. Despite their questionable beginnings, the Dinobots prove invaluable assets time and again against the Decepticon threats.

The Original 5 Dinobots Transformers

Grimlock

The bombastic leader of the bunch, Grimlock’s speech may prove simplistic but his combat prowess attrributes rank among the Autobot’s finest. His giant jetpack-boosted jump allows him to crash into Decepticon forces with devastating impact. And good luck trying to survive his Energon Sword and Rotary Blaster Cannon!

Sludge

The gentle giant and heart of the Dinobots, Sludge prefers peaceful resolution over violence. But when roused to battle, his Cybertronian strength and steel-crushing jaws give pause to even the largest of foes. His unique comprehension of both contemporary language and ancient Cybertronian dialects makes him an unexpected font of wisdom at times.

Slag

True to his Brontobot moniker, unleashing Slag on the battlefield proves an exercise in uncontrollable chaos. Merciless, unrelenting, and sporting heavy quad laser cannons, he charges full speed at enemies with abandon. Only Prime himself can rein in this wild card once Slag starts seeing red.

Swoop

Pteranodon: All aerial assaults against the Dinobots end in failure thanks to Swoop dominating the skies. His accurate missiles and flaming mortar rounds decimate foolish Seekers and Insecticons alike. And should anyone down this pterodactyl pest, Swoop simply converts to robot mode and keeps right on blasting!

Snarl

The original leader before Grimlock’s coup, Snarl still commands respect as cynical second-in-command who’s seen it all. His Spike Missile Storm neutralizes aerial bombers while his Cybertonium Steel Tail smashes any ground troops foolish enough to flank him. Anyone doubting this vet’s capabilities invariably learns why that’s a fatal final mistake.

As the war raged on, supplementary Dinobots Transformers joined the fray including:

  • The beastly Rodimus Prime and his Firey Tyrannosaurus mode.
  • Swoop clones like Strafe, Storm Cloud, and Divebomb bolstering aerial options.
  • Slugfest and Overbite providing alternative Brontosaus and T-Rex options.
  • Exotic additions like Triceradon, Dinobot Scorpion, Bambaloon, and Dinobot Pachycephal.

Regardless of era or roster adjustments, the Dinobots Transformers unleash destruction against Decepticons with wanton glee. Their savage fighting styles and overwhelming durability make them an asset Autobot commanders utilize readily. Well, as long as the risk of accompanying collateral damage proves acceptable! Even the most sound-minded leader understands you can’t make a Decepticon-smashing omelet without scrambling a few hundred city structures.

But in those times when only bludgeoning brute strength will carry the day, the Dinobots Transformers answer the call. Their roars promise mayhem coming for their enemies. And they have yet to fail making good on that exciting threat! So when the hopeless hour seems darkest against Megatron’s hordes, take heart! Odds are you’ll soon hear Grimlock leading his prehistoric partners to the booming battle frenzy!

Dinobots Transformers Origins

Beyond their fearsome fighting capabilities, the psyches and origins of Dinobots prove equally fascinating for Transformers scholars. Most accounts show Wheeljack crafting the Dinobots on Earth using fossils and scans of Cybertronian dinosaur equivalents. But theories abound on alternative origins. Some posit the Dinobots as former primitive Autobots who departed Cybertron on an exodus ship, only to crash land on prehistoric Earth where they adopted dinosaur alt modes.

Others speculate the Dinobots resulting from Quintesson experiments gone awry. Early proto-Transformers blended with organic dinosaur DNA and left abandoned on Earth once the Quintessons deemed them too wild and destructive.

A more cosmic origin ties the Dinobots to Primacron’s Assistant, a pint-sized godlike being who crafted his own transforming mechanical dinosaur guardians. When Primacron ultimately disposed of his assistant, these prototype Dinobots seemingly wound up discovering modern Earth.

The mystery endures whether this ties the Dinobots directly to Primus or The One’s influence. Their personal glyphs and symbols lean more primordial than standard Cybertronian alphabet. What does seem certain is their sparks and minds harbor boundless ancient energies rivaling even combiners like Devastator in scale.

What Are Dinobots Transformers Thinking (Anything?)

The Dinobots’ mental makeup blends simplistic ideologies with underlying sage wisdoms. Despite speech patterns leaning rudimentary, the Dinobots grasp complex philosophies regarding justice, morality, and the sanctity of freedom. They pledge allegiance more to abstract noble ideals over any particular faction. Their innate compassion spectacularly contrasts their capacity for mass destruction. Dinobots only unleash their full wrathful fury against the most vile of enemies threatening universal balances.

Make no mistake though – tempting a Dinobot still proves dangerously easy! Even veteran Autobots occasionally find themselves on the wrong end of a tail smash or fire blast after provoking a Dinobot. Their definitions on right and wrong leave little gray area. But the line between friend and foe shifts swiftly for Dinobots should they perceive the slightest hint of injustice or dishonesty. This lends them an endearing ethical nobility despite their beastly natures.

Few can match Dinobot Transformers’ resilience in body or spirit. And those rare icons earning Dinobot loyalty find themselves accompanied by living engines of evolutionary supremacy! So Autobot or Decepticon expecting an easy campaign better prepare for Jurassic disruption once the Dinobots roar onto the battlefield!
